How To Get Started With Easynews

Easynews is the easiest way to get started with Usenet due to its innovative web interface that allows you to search, preview, and download from the Usenet without the need for any third-party applications. In this guide, we will show you how to use the Easynews search interface and master the power of Usenet.

How To Create An Account

Step 1 - Select a Plan

In order to start searching the Usenet, you will first need to sign up for an Easynews account.

We recommend selecting the Big Gig Plan as it comes with the highest GB allotment and includes the Zero-Log VPN and Unlimited NNTP Add-ons at no additional cost.

Step 2 - Enter Your Payment Details

After you have selected your plan, simply enter the email you want to use with your account and fill out the “Select Payment Method” fields. In this example, we selected the Big Gig Plan which includes all the available Add-ons at no additional cost. If you selected a lesser plan like the ‘Classic Plan’ or ‘Plus Plan’, you are able to customize the Add-ons you want to add at an additional cost.

Step 3 - Thank You Page

Once you have successfully completed the checkout process, you will be directed to the Easynews Thank You Page. Here you will see an overview of your account details and will be able to update your auto-assigned username.

This username will be used for both your login and Usenet authentication, so make sure you select a username that you will remember or save it somewhere for future reference.

Step 1 - Basic Search

The default Search Type on the Easynews web interface will be set to Basic which is what we recommend for your first search.

Next, you will want to select either the Find Articles or Find Groups tab. The default option is Find Articles (if you are new to Usenet and don’t have experience browsing the different Usenet Newsgroups, we recommend that you stick with using the Find Articles search method).

Now for the fun part! Enter a search term into the search bar and select the file type that you are looking for. Once your search entry is complete, press the big green Search
button or simply hit Enter on your keyboard.

The results of your search will be displayed below the Usenet Search section.

On the search results page, you can start downloading the content you want. Below, we have outlined how to do this in the “How To Download” section.

Step 2 - Advanced Search

There is also an Advanced option that can be selected through the Search Type selection field located in the upper right section of the Usenet Search bar.

With Advanced search, you can perform more targeted searches by narrowing your search query to specific keywords, subjects, posters, and newsgroups. There are also options that allow you to minimize spam, remove duplicates, and further customize your search settings.

How To Download

Now that you have found what you are searching for, you can start downloading the file you are after. There are a few different ways you can start downloading from the search results page:

1. Quick Download - If you click on the header or the thumbnail image, your download will automatically start.

It is important to note that certain file types may begin to play in a new tab of your browser. If this is the case, you will want to use the ZIP Manager method for downloading these file types.

2. Zip Manager - This feature is ideal if you are looking to download multiple files at one time and want to build a download queue.
In order to use the Zip Manager functionality, first select the files you want to download by selecting the checkboxes located below the files’ thumbnail images.

Once the files have been selected, press the Zip button located below the search bar and above the search results.

Now select the Queue you want to add the files. For this example, we will use the default queue, but you are able to customize and label different queues on the Zip Manager page. You can customize the Name, though it is not required, and then press the Zip button to move the selected files to your queue.

After you press the Zip button, you will receive a confirmation message. Click the Go To Zip Manager link to be redirected to the Zip Manager page.

From the Zip Manager page, click on the Download option. This will start downloading all the files that have been saved to your custom queue.

Once the download has been initiated, you will see the download status of the zipped file at the bottom left of your web browser.

When the download is complete, you can click on the zipped folder at the bottom of your web browser or find files in your default download folder.
